Donations Report Overview
Your Donations Report (found under Reports > Donations) is the most comprehensive report Harness provides. This report shows a historical view of all donations your organization has received from donors through Harness. The Donations Report is also your best choice of reports to export from Harness to import into your CRM.
What Information is Available?
Donations Report Data Fields
The Donations Report provides you with a view of any and all donations that your organization has received through Harness during any period of time. While viewing the report within your Harness Dashboard, you will be able to see:
Donation date & time
Donor's name
Donor's email address
Donation type (one-time, monthly, or Round-Ups)
Payment method type (credit card, bank transfer, cash, check, etc.)
Intended donation amount
Fees covered
Total donation amount
Campaign name, custom field responses, and other donation details are not displayed within the Harness Dashboard. To view these additional data points, download/export your Donations Report.
Donations Report Summary
On the right side of the page you will also see a summary that accounts for all donations received within the window of time you're looking at. This summary provides a sum of:
Total one-time donations
Total monthly donations
Total Round-Ups donations
Total fees covered by donors
Total net donations received
Total gross donations received
Applying a Date Range Filter
If you would like to view donations received over a specific period of time, use the date range filter in the upper-righthand corner to select a preset timeframe or a custom date range.
Searching for Donations
To search for a specific donor by first name, last name, or both, use the "Search by name..." box in the upper right-hand corner.
Searching by donation amount and emailing address is unsupported. Please note that only donations within the selected date range will be displayed. If needed, adjust the date range filter to view more or less donations.
You can also click on a donor's name or email address to open their pull-over profile. This can be useful to view or edit a donor's information, see their donation history, and even access the View as Donor tool. Learn more about viewing and editing a donor's information here.
How to Refund Donations
If a donor requests a refund of a donation, your Donations Report is the only location within your Harness Dashboard were the refund can be issued.
To refund a donation, start by locating the donation that needs to be refunded. This can quickly and easily be done by applying the date range filter for the date of the donation and using the search box to look up the donor by name.
Once the donation has been located, select the three dots to the right of the donation, then select the Refund Donation option.
As a safeguard, you will then be asked to confirm that you wish to refund the donation. You may select the reason for the refund, which gives you the options of:
Requested by Donor
Duplicate
Fraudulent
You may also optionally add a note about the reason for the refund, though this is not required. To confirm the refund, press the red Refund Donation button.
Refunds take a few business days to be processed and returned to the donor. Refunded donations will no longer appear in your Harness Dashboard. To view refunded donations you will need to log into your Stripe account and visit the Transactions/Payments section.
How to Edit Donations
The Donations Report enabled you to edit a donor's gift if they mistakenly donated to the wrong campaign*, or have requested for a donation note to be added or changed.
To edit a donation, start by locating the donation that needs to be edited. This can quickly and easily be done by applying the date range filter for the date of the donation and using the search box to look up the donor by name.
Once the donation has been located, select the 3 dots to the right of the donation, then select the Edit Donation option.
You will then be able to edit which of your Campaigns the donation was attributed to, add or make changes to the donation Note/Comment, and set if the donation note is displayed publicly on your fundraising pages. Confirm your changes by using the Save Changes button.
*For Monthly and Round-Ups donations, editing the campaign through the Donations Report will not change which campaign the donation is applied to going forward. If the donation should be applied to a different campaign in the future, you will need to edit the gift through the Monthly Report or Round-Ups Report respectively.
How to Download Donation Receipts
Your Donations Report also allows you to download copies of donations receipts as a PDF.
To download a donation receipt, start by locating the donation. This can quickly and easily be done by applying the date range filter for the date of the donation and using the search box to look up the donor by name.
Once the donation has been located, select the 3 dots to the right of the donation, then select the Download Receipt option.
A PDF copy of the receipt will then be downloaded to your computer. Below is an example of a downloaded donation receipt.
If you need to send the copy of the receipt to the donor, use your normal emailing tool/platform to send an email to the donor, and attach the downloaded copy of the receipt to the email draft before sending.

How to Download the Donations Report
Your Donations Report can be downloaded by selecting the Download Report option in the upper-righthand corner. You will have two options of the report format that you can download: PDF or CSV/Excel.
Donation Details Included in the CSV/Excel
The CSV/Excel version of your Donations Report is the most comprehensive report Harness provides. This report includes all data points available for each donation, which consists of:

Custom Field responses are only found in the downloaded CSV/Excel version of your Donations Report. These responses do not appear on any other reports and are not viewable directly within your Harness Dashboard. When downloading the Donations Report as a PDF, the only donation details included are:
Donation date & time
Donor's name
Donor's email address

Intended donation amount
Fees covered
Total donation amount
Additional information such as the campaign or custom field responses are not included in the PDF version, but can be found in the CSV/Excel version of the report.
FAQs
Q: How do I see new donors vs existing donors?
A: While the donations report does not show new vs existing donors, you may consider downloading your Saved Contacts (more info here) and utilize the "date created" column to see when each contact was added to Harness.
