Understanding the difference
When you donate through Harness, you'll see two ways to help organizations keep more: covering processing fees and Boosting your gift.
Here's the difference.
Covering Processing Fees
When you cover fees, you're paying the transaction costs for your own donation only.
Boosting your gift
When you Boost, you're adding a little extra to help cover fees across one-time donations to the organization, not just your own gift.
Here's how it works:
Your Boost helps cover fees from other donations. If total Boosts don't cover all fees, Harness steps in. The nonprofit receives 100% of all one-time donations.
Example: Donate $100, add a 5% Boost ($5), pay $105 total. Your $5 helps ensure the nonprofit receives 100% of every one-time donation.
Why Both Options?
Cover fees: Your specific donation reaches the nonprofit in full
Boost: Help the nonprofit receive 100% of every one-time donation
Both are completely optional and adjustable at checkout.
